Topic Tuesday // Life After Bushfires // Tues 19th January, 7:00-8:30PM AEDT

Re: Topic Tuesday // Life After Bushfires // Tues 19th January, 7:00-8:30PM AEDT

The loss sounds like it is still so fresh for you @JLD and that there has been so many challenges accessing support Heart

At the end of this discussion, we would really encourage you to make a post to the Life After Bushfires forum too- there are a lot of people here who can provide support, and might be able to suggest local services that can provide the support you deserve right now for your family

@outlander  that must've been tough to witness. Did you find it helped being able to do something for those around you?

@Poppet1 close calls like that, where there's the possibility and fear, can be really scary too!

Agreed @Daisydreamer@JLD & anyone else here interested, you can access the Life After Bushfires Community on the Forums right here

@Daisydreamer from what I know a lot of communities are still experiencing shock - there's a numbness as the whole fires stuff was quickly taken over by the COVID thing and people felt left behind and forgotten about sadly. It also impacted on the efforst lots of non-affected people wanted to contibute, help out with because of shutdowns

Re: Topic Tuesday // Life After Bushfires // Tues 19th January, 7:00-8:30PM AEDT

I live in Budgong north of the Shoalhaven River. The fire burnt through Budgong on 4th Jauary 2020 before it continued into Kangaroo Valley. Our house was not burnt, but most everything else was. We have rebuilt garage, solar shed, garden shed and most of our infrstructure.

The bush is now a sea of a billion wattle trees and weed. There is so much to do everywhere I look still.

Admittedly it was very stressful as well @TideisTurning
I wanted to help as many people as possible but with fires on 3 fronts raging out of control and our location stuck in the middle i not only had to worry about my own animals, family etc but also other peoples animals as well

Re: Topic Tuesday // Life After Bushfires // Tues 19th January, 7:00-8:30PM AEDT

@Daisydreamer the stories being told here by fellow members are similar to those i have heard offline too. the lost homes, bussinesses, properties, animals, the struggles of rebuilding their lives again

Thanks so much for joining us tonight @KingParrot, and for sharing your story. It must be a real challenge seeing the damaged bush every day.

How are you feeling now that you have had your garage, shed etc. rebuilt? Sounds like you're still feeling like there's a lot to do?
